I was born and raised in a small town in South Carolina. My mother first introduced me to photography. She had this old Kodak Polaroid camera that showed-up on special occasions like Easter, Christmas, and Birthdays. I was later introduced to photography in college, at Elizabeth City State University. I took a photography class called Introduction to Photography I, to be exact. I fell in love with photography the first time I removed the test strip from the fixer. Black and white photography was amazing. It was magic to see an image form on this white sheet of paper. From that moment I was hooked, and I knew right then photography was not just another class that I was taking to complete a school requirement. I later became the Chief Photographer for "The Compass", the award winning newspaper for Elizabeth City State University. My love for photography is deeply routed in photojournalism. Photojournalism to me is as honest as you can be with your audience, that is what drew me in to the art of photography. Photography is an art form that tells many stories and envokes a number of emotions. When it comes to photographs it does not matter what language you speak, we all can interpret the meaning.
